december views: a beautiful day

coffee and breakfast eaten, gifts opened, a morning winter walk.
now is the in between. the oven is full of yumminess, soon to meet our bellies. dad is lighting a fire in a clay oven outside, mom is doing finishing touches on dinner (to be eaten mid-afternoon). a few guests are about to arrive. ulysses (my brothers cat) is periodically climbing the tree, troublemaking interspersed with moments of serious sweet kitter cuddles.
polaroids have been shot (in all their purple cold weather glory) and there growing collection has become a little gallery in my room. a few lovely practical gifts ready to come westward home with me. really yummy fancy jelly candies already consumed.
cranberries, gluten-free stuffing (made by me for the first time), potatoes (great-grandmother style), a big salad, squash, saurkraut and what i'm most excited for...turkey...have my taste buds excited. full bellies will be followed by another winter walk.
i hope your holidays have been really beautiful. hopefully full of a few quiet moments (or beautiful chaos) and lots of love.

i wanted to name atlas argos (except i thought of it after i had named him). imagine the fun if i had done so, and then could have had a cat named ulysses. it would have been too perfectly apt.
